District 9 Team Member Spotlight

Virginia Williams, Academic Intervention Services Coordinator

Product of NYC Public elementary, middle and high schools, Virginia has been an educator for over 15 years. She began teaching through New York City Teaching Fellows at the East Bronx Academy for the Future. From there she co-founded the Bronx Career and College Preparatory High School. Next, she served as the Dean at the High School for Energy and Technology for several years providing targeted support for students, teachers, and families.

During the last academic school year, she served as a Literacy Coach through the NYC Literacy Collaborative in which she had the opportunity to support schools' development of strategic reading periods based on the science of reading. She transitioned to her current role of Academic Intervention Services Coordinator to develop solutions and to reinforce that regardless of exceptionalities with help most can advance.

Virginia is the mother of a middle school student. She is a community advocate and serves on multiple boards dedicated to positively contributing to the learning, engagement and achievement of scholars.
